Good News Story:

Velma is a fantastic example of a student who thrived professionally through an ARC Training course. She’s been a widow for 20 years so recently sold her family home and moved into a lifestyle village. With a lot of time on her hands, she decided to volunteer in a palliative care setting. Originally, Velma was just going to do some volunteer work, but she saw an ad for ARC’s CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing and decided to do the course to obtain solid training.

Throughout the course, Velma felt welcomed and encouraged by both her trainer and her classmates. The demographics of her class were quite varied, yet she never felt like anyone was treated any differently. Even after the course finished, Velma still catches up with some of her old classmates and considers them friends.

Velma cannot speak highly enough of her trainer Linda Robertson. She found Linda incredibly accommodating of the entire cohort and everyone was on equal footing no matter their background. Velma looked forward to each week’s content and states that Linda was ‘an asset to anything!’

When her course finished, Velma completed her placement hours and put her name down to work for a renowned senior care facility, Home Instead! At 71 years old, Velma is enjoying a career path she never thought possible and is enjoying doing something different every day!

VelmaCommunity Services Student

I did my certificate through ARC’s digital classes because as a stay at home mum, it really fit into my lifestyle. I was able to study when I wanted, where I wanted. I honestly don’t think I would have been able to get my qualification if it wasn’t for online classes.
