Overview

This qualification prepares educators to work in regulated early childhood education and care services across Australia. Educators support children’s wellbeing, learning and development through approved learning frameworks, while following established policies and procedures. They apply professional skills, knowledge and judgement to their work and may work independently or with guidance that is not always on-site. Graduates typically work in long day care centres, family day care, pre-schools and kindergartens.

ARC Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course as an Existing Worker student entrant, you must:

  • Be employed in a regulated children’s education and care service in Australia for the entire duration of the course.
  • Complete a language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) assessment and achieve a minimum outcome of ACSF level 2 across all domains.
  • Have the provision of workplace supervisors to support and facilitate opportunities for practical skills development, as well as provide feedback and performance insights through third party reports.
  • Have access to children of varying ages (0-5 years old) throughout the duration of the course.
  • Ensure trainers and Assessors from ARC training are able to access the workplace for the purposes of direct observation assessment.
  • Be physically fit to undertake practical placement requirements in an Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) setting.
  • Have access to a computer with reliable internet connectivity.
  • Possess basic computer and digital literacy skills to support the completion of an online qualification.
  • Provide evidence of Working with Children Check (WWCC) and certificate of completion of National Child Safety Training in Geccko (from 27th August 2026)
  • Have completed HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Education and Care setting **to be provided for Credit Transfer (CT)

Duration and Mode of Delivery

The CHC30125 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care is designed for students currently working in the ECEC sector. This course is delivered through a hybrid training model combining online study with face-to-face assessment in the workplace. This delivery allows students to integrate study with their existing workplace responsibilities. Students will undertake both theoretical and practical assessments.

The course includes 160 hours of mandatory practical placement, which must be completed in an approved early childhood education and care service. As students are already working in the sector, placement hours may be completed within their current workplace where suitable.

The qualification is delivered over 52 weeks (12 months), providing students with the time needed to complete all training, assessment and workplace requirements while gaining practical, on‑the‑job experience.
