Overview
This course is designed to develop the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a range of situations including life support and management of a casualty until the arrival of medical or other assistance to meet the requirements for a workplace or personal development.
The duration of the class is approximately 5.5 hours.
Entry Requirements
There are no entry requirements for this course. People must have a reasonable level of spoken and written English to complete assessments.
Students under 18 years of age must provide written permission from a parent or guardian.
Please be aware that training of this nature involves moderate physical activity, including kneeling, bending and being on the floor performing CPR on a manikin uninterrupted for at least two minutes.
Training and Assessment Activities
Training and Assessment will take place:
Pre-course activities: Pre-course study and assessment before arriving to class.
Classroom: Training and assessment takes place in a classroom and involves simulated first aid scenarios.
Assessment: Assessment includes written questions and observations using an adult and infant manikins, defibrillator and completing an incident report form.

Traineeship
Subsidised Training: funding may be available for eligible participants under the NSW Smart and Skilled Program.
To be eligible for a subsidised place, you must be:
- an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident,
- Humanitarian Visa Holder or NZ Citizen
- 15 years old or over
- Living or working in NSW
- No longer be at school or equivalent.
This training is subsidised by the NSW Government.

Eligibility Criteria - NSW Smart and Skilled
Subsidised Training: funding may be available for eligible participants under the NSW Smart and Skilled Program.
To be eligible for a subsidised place, you must be:
- an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, Humanitarian Visa Holder or NZ Citizen
- 15 years old or over
- Living or working in NSW
- No longer be at school or equivalent.
This training is subsidised by the NSW Government.

Eligibility Criteria - QLD Certificate 3 Guarantee
Subsidised Training: funding may be available for eligible Queensland participants under the Higher Skills Program, funded by the Queensland Government.
To be eligible, you must be:
- an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident,
- NZ Citizen
- 15 years old or over
- Living in Queensland and
- Not already have obtained or be enrolled in a qualification at the Certificate IV level or higher.
Total student fee:
Concession – $18, Non-Concession – $36

- Participate in debriefing
