This course is designed to develop the skills and knowledge required to provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and use a defibrillator (AED) on a casualty, until the arrival of medical or other assistance to meet the requirements for a workplace or for personal development.
The duration of the class is approximately 3 hours.
There are no entry requirements for this course. People must have a reasonable level of spoken and written English to complete assessments.
Students under 18 years of age must provide written permission from a parent or guardian.
Please be aware that training of this nature involves moderate physical activity, including kneeling, bending and being on the floor performing CPR on a manikin uninterrupted for at least two minutes.
Training and Assessment Activities
Training and Assessment will take place:
Pre-course activities: Pre-reading and pre-course assessment before arriving to class.
Classroom: Training and assessment takes place in a classroom and involves simulated first aid scenarios.
Assessment: Assessment includes written questions and observations using an adult and infant manikins, defibrillator and completing an incident report form.
